Does Your Bass Fishing Boat Fish?

October 3, 2008

The first bass fishing boats were dugout canoes used for fishing by the Indians.  Some of the Indians of east Texas and western Louisiana still use dugout canoes. Bass is usually found in these swampy waterways. Large minnows are the preferable bait of choice for these fish.

A bass fishing boat is used basically as a flotation device that allows you to paddle to the more secluded parts of small ponds or less accessible areas. Bass are fresh water fish are being stocked in more of the manmade lakes. The bass fishing boat has been designed specifically with this selective type of fishing in mind.

The Fishing Boat Design

The design of a bass fishing boat is much different from a commercial fishing boat. The bass fishing boat has characteristics that include stability, shallow draft and plenty of room for carrying tackle, as well as easy movement around the inside of the boat.

Originally, the boats were made from wood and had a flanged out side. This flanged out side gives the boat excellent stability, resulting in giving the boat a very shallow draft. The first bass fishing boat dealer was from Shreveport, Louisiana. A special electric motor was designed for the bass fishing boat which would allow the freeing of both hands of the fisherman for presentation of a lure.

Fishing Tackle Equals Fishing Boat

As the new bass fishing boats began to become popular, new reels were invented to help with the casting from these boats. With the advent of new reels, came new lures and so the advancement of bass boats came into the forefront of the sport. The boat then evolved into fiberglass for the economic value. Fiberglass would provide drier and much better rides during fishing trips. Platforms in the boats were improved for the anglers and bass fishing was becoming quite profitable for all of its markets.

Evolution Of The Bass Fishing Boat

The evolution of the bass fishing boat has really come about quickly. This is possibly because it is a man’s sport and more men run these sporting industries that produce the equipment for bass fishing. The bass fishing boat now has the option for a flat bottom or a V bottom. But the most important characteristic, even with all of these improvements, is how does it fish? You can have the best state of the art bass fishing boat, but does it produce fish? If the answer is yes, then purchasing one of these boats will be a great investment.

Most of the men in this world love to fish. The majority of these men love to fish alone. There is no need for big fancy fishing boats when there is only one person fishing.

A small fishing boat is all one needs to fish if you are the only fisherman.  A small aluminum fishing boat is the best idea for a lone fisherman. It is lightweight, easy to haul, easy to carry and easy to maneuver in the water.

Convenient

This small fishing boat is best used as a car-topper or hauled on a mini trailer.  Depending on the age and agility of the fisherman depends on which would be the best. But it is very convenient to haul a small fishing boat on the top of your car and it can easily be thrown on top and tied down. Because it is so lightweight, taking the small fishing boat off your car top is very easy.

You can set your small fishing boat straight into the water, or you can pull it by hand to the water’s edge. It is best to have a small motor and oars with your fishing boat. A motor is best because it takes a lot of physical effort to row back and forth with oars. Since fishing trips are for relaxation, the idea of rowing is not that appealing. But oars are needed in case there is a problem with the motor when you are out on the lake.

Overnight

If you decide on a weekend trip you will need to make camp and spend the night. A small fishing boat is the best because it can maneuver into small areas that would fit into a small camp. Again, the convenience for a single fisherman to handle a small fishing boat is priceless for the single trips.

Some men do prefer the idea of a major sport fishing boat trip. They prefer the convenience of having a staff do everything for them. From setting the poles, to keeping everyone stocked with beer, these charter sport fishing trips can be fun all day trips.  But there is nothing more special than the privacy and quiet of a secluded fishing trip to dissolve the tension from a hectic week.

A small fishing boat may weigh 51 kg.  If you decide to take a longer distance trip to a fishing spot, you might consider a small one axel single trailer for your small fishing boat. If you know you will be driving in the sand, it is always good to have your boat on a trailer. But if you are a fisherman on a budget, the most economical way of fishing is with a small fishing boat on top of your car, worms in your tackle box and a sturdy fishing pole.
